07375 538957 A stunning self catering cottage on the Isle of Skye

Location: Willowbank is located right on the shore of Broadford Bay with direct beach access from the garden behind the house, and parking for three cars in the driveway in front.

Bedrooms: The older, stone-built wing of the house contains three cosy bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor with a double bed and en-suite shower. A staircase leads to two further bedrooms, one twin and one double, and a shared bathroom, all with traditional combed ceilings and dormer windows. The sleeping accommodation is completed with an adjacent stone bothy that has been recently renovated and converted into a stylish double bedroom with its own ensuite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities and patio entrance.

Living areas: Also in the old part of the house is a comfortable snug with wood-burning stove and ground floor WC. The modern wing of the house features a spacious kitchen/dining room, and a second staircase leading to a gorgeous first floor sitting room. Both rooms feature dramatic full-height windows giving views of Broadford Bay and its islands, with the hills of Torridon beyond, and picture windows framing Beinn na Caillich mountain to the West.

Garden: A sliding door from the kitchen/dining room gives access to a large stone patio/BBQ area with picnic table seating 8 people, looking across the lawn to the beach beyond. The garden has a secluded feel and is securely fenced from the road and driveway; there is a gentle stream running down one side lined with mature alder, ash and rowan, and the end of the garden gives open access to the shore and sea breezes (which help to keep the infamous Highland Midge at bay). There is a fully enclosed area to the side of the house, perfect for small children or pets to play in. The garden shed has been set up for use as a heated drying room for outdoor kit.

Facilities: These include an entrance hall with washing and drying machines and utility sink. The kitchen has an electric range cooker and additional gas hobs, a microwave/combi oven and an espresso machine, a fridge and freezer, and dishwasher. The dining area is beautifully furnished with an antique welsh dresser and an oak dining table that comfortably seats 8+ people. The upstairs sitting room has a Freesat TV and DVD player, and a CD/radio and ipod dock are also available, plus a replica early 20th century brass telescope to help you enjoy the view from the Juliet balcony. The property features free wi-fi and phone (national calls only). There are modern double-glazed timber windows throughout, radiator central heating powered by an Air Source Heat Pump, and a wood-burning stove in the snug. Electricity and fuel costs are included in the rental.

Children: We welcome children and toddlers; we have a cot, highchair, pushchair and stairgates available on request.

Pets: Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome, however we do ask that they be kept out of the bedroom areas of the house.

Willowbank has a unique history, a reflection of social and economic change in Broadford and the wider area - in the recent past it was a family home, but before that at various points in its history it has been a manse, a boarding house for schoolchildren, a fishing tackle shop, a market garden and croft house. You may spot traces of this history during your stay at Willowbank.
